Greeva Basti-

in this therapy, a compartment or cabin of black gram dough is constructed over the neck or back side of the neck and medicated warm oil is poured and pooled for a fixed duration of time. The word Greeva refers to neck and Basti means to hold (compartment which holds). Greeva basti is a procedure of bathing the neck region with medicated oil or herbal decoctions. Oleation and sudation of the neck region are done simultaneously in this procedure.

Kati Basti-

The word Kati refers to the back of your body mainly the waist region and lower back and Basti means to hold( compartment which holds). Kati basti is a procedure of bathing the lower back region with medicated oil or herbal decoctions. Oleation and sudation of the back region are done simultaneously in this procedure.

Abhyang/ Pizhichil-

This treatment is a combination of treatment and oil massage. Indian culture massage of the body with medicated oils was a routine known as a part of Dincharya.

At Ayur Health Veda, we reinvent this old age therapy and provide this therapy that is unique to each individual and their body type(doshas), identifying the underlying factors in the ailment.

The whole body is systematically massaged in a gentle and synchronized manner. This massage is performed under the supervision of an Ayurvedic physician. This massage is administered in seven standard positions so as to cover every part of the body hence extending maximum benefit.

A cloth dipped in lukewarm medicated oil is squeezed over the patient’s body and then oil is rubbed gently and smoothly. This session may last for 30-45 minutes. Specific marma points mentioned in Ayurveda are activated using this therapy.

This therapy is highly rejuvenating. It re-tunes the whole nervous system , enhances muscle tone, and makes joints, tendons, and ligaments flexible and strong.

Pinda Sweda/ Kizhi Massage-

This treatment is also known as Potali swedan. It is a medicated fomentation therapy wherein medicated powders, and heated herbs are tied in cloth bags and the body is massaged with these bags while dipping them in hot herbal decoctions. This reduces inflammation in affected areas hence reducing muscle and joint pains.

There are various types of Kizhi treatment, which are called by different names according to the medicines used in it. They include:

  • Ela Kizhi Treatment- In this treatment, medicinal herbs along with powders are kept in a bag of cloth. It is dipped in hot medicated oil and applied to the body or affected area.
  • Njavara Kizhi Treatment- This kizhi uses cooked medicinal rice blended with medicated powders. It is dipped in hot medicated milk and herbs and applied all over the body in a rhythmic manner.
  • Podi Kizhi Treatment- In Podi Kizhi, a cotton bag filled with a hot mixture of herbal powders is used.
  • Mutta Kizhi Treatment- In this one, boiled egg yolks and medicated herbs are used and applied to the body after dipping in medicated oils

Anuvasana Basti (Medicated oil Enema)-Enema of oils medicated with various Ayurvedic Herbs and minerals not only lubricate the rectal area but gets absorbed in the whole body and gives nourishment to every cell of the body. It also expels lipid-soluble toxins and wastes out of the body through the anus. This procedure mainly helps balance the vitiated Vata dosha.

Asthapana Basti (Medicated Decoction Enema)-Enema of decoction of various herbs and minerals mixed with other ingredients cleanses the body mainly from the transverse colon to the anus. It also gets absorbed in the body and works on every cell of the body hence helping in various diseased conditions and helping avoid developing diseases by removing toxins from the body. This procedure mainly helps balance the vitiated Vata dosha.
