Depression/ Anxiety/ Insomnia package
In the modern age, psychiatric diseases are known as Manas Roga, and treatment with Ayurvedic principles is known as Ayurvedic Psychiatry.
Psychological or emotional imbalance is the underlying pathology of Manas Roga.
In this fast-paced world, people are careless about mental and physical health because of being preoccupied with psychological or emotional imbalance. Many times, it is observed that physical diseases are the outcome of psychological factors.
According to Ayurveda, the site of the mind is the Heart.
Manas Roga or mental diseases are associated with emotion, trauma, negative attitude, stress, and drug abuse. Manas rogas arise due to disturbance in Sattva guna. Sattva, Rajas, and Tama are three Manas gunas. Sattva is largely responsible for the inherent quality of the mind.
Sattva, if overshadowed by Rajas or Tamas, loses its predominance and manifestations are evident in the form of depression, anxiety, stress, schizophrenia, insomnia, etc.
In today’s fast-paced life, we and society are under the influence of Rajas. Consumption of mind-stimulating objects like tea, coffee, and tobacco along with excessive traveling, consumption of alcohol and other drugs, and a preoccupied mind have depressing effects on the smooth functioning of the brain.
In Ayurveda, there are three categories of treatment in the case of Manas rogas.
Daivyavyapashraya (Divine therapy)- It includes chanting of mantras. It revives the normal functioning of the Sattva and removes obstacles of Rajas.
Satvavjaya Chikitsa(Trance therapy)- It includes the practice of Yama, Niyama, Asana, and Pranayam.
Yuktivyapashraya Chikitsa( Rational therapy)- is aimed at the rational use of drugs and nutrition. It is broadly classified into two groups namely Shodhana and Shamana.
Ayurveda recommends preventive medicines. Correct behavior, a balanced diet, and suppression of natural urges, Dincharya (Daily regimen), and Ritucharya ( seasonal regimen) are an integral part of Manas Chikitsa.
There are many nervine tonics like Brahmi, Ashwagandha, Guduchi, Yashtimadhu, and Vacha that help prevent Manas rogas.
Jatamansi and Tagara are the drugs of choice in the treatment of anxiety neurosis.
Ashwagandha and Shilajit have good antidepressant effects.
Many therapies are offered in ayurveda for such conditions.
